Answer these three before you set any goals
These are three questions about your life as it stands. Answer them before you set a goal, so the goal starts from where you are.
About me is one of the exercises in the Astera workspace. It asks three short questions, and each one gets a box to type in.
The three questions
- What does your life look like right now?Work, people, where you live, what a normal week holds. Describe it plainly and leave the judging out.
- What do you want the next twelve weeks to give you?One thing. If three come to mind, write all three and circle the one that matters most.
- What usually stops you?Be plain. Nobody reads this but you. "I say yes to too much" and "I stop when I get sick" are both good answers.
Why the third question matters most
The third question asks about your pattern, and it is the one you can plan around.
Everybody has one. You might take on a second project and drop both. You might get sick every winter, or stop the moment work gets busy.
Once your pattern has a name, it can go in the plan. If winter knocks you out, keep the hard goals for spring.
Say your answer is "I stop when work gets busy". Find the busy stretch in the next twelve weeks and set a smaller target for it.
Write it for yourself
Your answers save in this browser, and in your account if you make one. Write what's true about your week.
Where your answers go next
Your second answer is a good place to start the annual intention. That exercise asks for one sentence about your year.
Questions
How long should the answers be?
A short paragraph each. You'll want to read them again in twelve weeks.
What if I can't answer the second one?
Then do the Wheel of Life first. Score eight parts of your life, mark what good looks like for each, and the widest gap gives you your answer.
Where does this go in a printed journal?
About me stays in the workspace and does not go into your Astera book. If you want your answers on paper, write them onto a notes page at the front.
