Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life, one verse at a time
Wayne Dyer took the Tao Te Ching one verse at a time and wrote about how to live each one now.
He read hundreds of translations before he started. Then he spent a year with the text and wrote an essay on every one of its eighty one verses. The book came out in 2007.
Each chapter prints the old verse first, with Dyer's essay after it. The chapters are short, so you can read one a morning.
Dyer on changing how you see things
Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.
When you change your thoughts, you change your life.
Dyer means it about perception, so you can test it on the next thought that worries you.
Name the thought, then look again
The cognitive distortions exercise gives you five of David Burns's thinking patterns and five thoughts to match to them. Once you name the pattern, the thought looks different.
